About Migraine

Migraine is a neurological disorder that has multiple symptoms, only one of which is often intense debilitating head pain. Migraine is more than a headache and has many strange and diverse neurological symptoms.

Migraine coaching is not about a cure-all or some quick fix. It is about you being in the drivers seat, taking your life back in the most positive way: one day at a time. It is about recognizing that there will be ups and downs, and learning to manage these times so that you are in greater control of your life rather than your diagnosis ruling you.

As your migraine coach I will guide you through the process of learning to manage your diagnosis, your migraine attacks and the various neurological symptoms so that you can live your life in the way that you wish, so that you can live a fuller, happier life, and the life that you deserve.

So: WHAT IS MIGRAINE??! I assume that as you are on this page, you have some ideas. However there are still many myths and unknowns about this disease.

Dr Amaal Starling, MD, Associate Professor of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic, explains that migraine is a disabling genetic neuro-biological disorder.

It has different symptoms and treatment approaches to other headache disorders. One distinct aspect of migraine is that it is often accompanied by other, (as I say, sometimes strange) neurological and physical symptoms such as dizziness, muscle weakness, gastro issues, difficulty thinking of words or putting sentences together, sensitivity to sounds, heat, cold, light, smell, touch. Sometimes your hair hurts!!

Symptoms vary from person to person, but here are some common migraine experiences.
